“I am Middletown”

Welcome to our long-time feature, which gives people in the Middletown school district a chance to meat and learn about the scholars in their community. We asked each scholar 10 questions, and the answers combined create a mini-profile about their lives. So what does “I am Middletown” mean? We cannot be defined by one or two words. Everything about all of us makes us unique, and that uniqueness makes us Middletown.

Meet Alessandra Figueroa, a Twin Towers Middle School eighth-grader who is in the National Junior Honor Society.

Her hobbies: “Dancing, singing and playing my viola.”

Three places she want to visit: “I would love to visit Hawaii, Bermuda and Aruba.”

Her three favorite movies: “’Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Aladdin.’”

Her music: “My favorite type of music is anything from a Broadway musical, so basically showtunes.”

On her bedroom walls: “My bedroom walls have a mirror, fairy lights, Playbills from musicals I have seen, posters and pictures from shows I have done, and a tapestry.”

Her proudest school moment: “Getting accepted into all-county orchestra. Making the National Junior Honor Society.”

What she likes the most about herself: “I like my eyes. I think they are really pretty.”

The last good book she read: “’To All the Boys I Loved Before,’ by Jenny Han.”

One thing people may not know about her: “That I’m a dancer.”

What makes her happy: “Music, dance, theater, my friends and my family.”

In 10 years she’ll be: “I’ll be acting in musical theater.”
