Welcome to our long-time feature, which gives people in the Middletown school district a chance to meat and learn about the scholars in their community. We asked each scholar 10 questions, and the answers combined create a mini-profile about their lives. So what does “I am Middletown” mean? We cannot be defined by one or two words. Everything about all of us makes us unique, and that uniqueness makes us Middletown.
Meet Fernanda Canuto, a Twin Towers eighth-grader who is in the National Junior Honor Society.
Three places she wants to visit: “Seoul, South Korea, Sydney, Australia and Honolulu, Hawaii.”
The last good book she read: “’Independent 24,” by Zhang Yixing”
Three famous people she would invite to dinner: “Shoma Uno, Yuzuru Hanyu and Joel Minas (They are all ice figure dancers).”
If she had $1 million: “I would give some to my family, save for college and save some for myself to travel.”
Her three favorite television shows: “My Hero Academia,” “Yuri!!! On Ice” and “Ouran High School Host Club.”
Her three favorite movies: “Wolf Children,” “Spirited Away” and “My Neighbor Totoro.”
Her greatest accomplishment: “Being able to rollerblade.”
One thing people may not know about her: “That I can Double-Dutch.”
The talent she would most like to have: “To be flexible.”
Who inspires her: “My Dad, because he makes me want to be successful and have a good career. He also encourages me to persevere.”
In 10 years she’ll be: “Finishing my last year of college and getting ready to be an orthodontist.”
