Twin Towers Middle School's Jordyn Cristoff Gonzalez and Monhagen Middle School's Charles Broelmann will perform in the Hudson Valley Honors Concert Band recital Oct. 5 at Monroe-Woodbury High School. The pair, both seventh-graders, will perform with seventh- and eighth-graders around the area. Charles also was accepted last year, and performed in the sixth-grade band.
The Hudson Valley Honors Band was established in 2008, and provides a terrific opportunity for outstanding band scholars in grades 6-12 from Hudson Valley schools to make music together. Jordyn and Charles auditioned in June. Scholars rehearse and perform a wide variety of music, from contemporary works to classics of the band repertoire. The final weekend of performances includes an annual College Fair, as well as a special performance by the New York Wind Symphony, featuring a guest conductor or New York Philharmonic soloist. The Hudson Valley Honors Youth Band Program is sponsored by the Syracuse University Bands.
Jordyn is a member of the Twin Towers band program. Charles is a member of the Monhagen band program. Both will perform in school concerts throughout the school year.
