Ten Middletown High School students have earned the right to perform in 2018 New York State School Music Association area all-state ensembles on Nov. 16-17 at Wallkill High School.
Four of these students – senior Freddy Quinonez, junior Anthony France, senior Krislyn Mazza and junior Faustina Elia – also participated in this event last year.
These 10 students were selected based on their scores from last spring’s NYSSMA solo evaluations. They performed in Wallkill with the best young musicians from Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Rockland and Greene counties.
Junior Daniel Cruz (tenor II), junior Scott Franco (bass I), junior Oluwaseyi Fadairo (bass II), Quinonez (tenor II) and France (bass I) will sing with the Mixed Chorus. Elia (alto II) and Mazza (soprano II) will sing in the Treble (Women’s) Choir. Elia performed last year with the area all-state orchestra.
Junior Madison Figueroa (soprano II) and sophomore Jacob Eisentraut (tenor II) are alternates.
These students are under the direction of Gregory Bennett at Middletown High School.
Junior Gracie Jones (clarinet) will perform with the area all-state symphonic band. She is Guy Johanson’s student at Middletown High School.
We will post photographs of these students when they are available.
