WEdnesday Family Night was a massive hit! Hundreds of scholars from grades K-12 and family members came to Presidential Park Elementary School on November 15 to learn and have fun.

Upon arrival, families could stop by a number of tables with information on Bilingual, ENL and World Language Education, the Parent Portal, the Diversity Committee, Special Services and more. They could grab a quick snack, or even a full meal from our food services, featuring Rich Chicks chicken sandwiches and tenders - which are part of our scholars' menu during the school day.

Scholars and families set off to attend two of many sessions available to them. Grade-appropriate literary sessions were available to all scholars and families. They could participate in read-alouds, listen to high school scholars doing book presentations, exercise critical thinking skills, and sample a selection of books. There were also tables with free books to take home.

In addition to fun literary activities, there were plenty of math activities! Scholars in K-8 played math games appropriate to their grade level. Game cards, dice, and dominos were used to practice mathematical operations and logic puzzles were posted in the hallway. Competition erupted between scholars to see who would be able to complete their problems first. For our high school scholars, they and their families could listen to a presentation on the journey to graduation. This included reminders on graduation requirements and preparation advice for upcoming Regents exams.

While there were plenty of different sessions for families and scholars, there were also opportunities for scholars to relax and have fun. Scholars could enjoy a movie in the cafeteria and find sensory activities in the library. Check back and see when the next WEdnesday Family Night will be. You won't want to miss it.
