Open Houses kick off new school year

open house night

Middletown schools kicked off their open house schedule with a district-wide kindergarten event on September 12, followed by individual events over the next two weeks at each building.

Each of our four elementary school kindergarten events really got the 2023-24 school year off to a good start, followed by events for older scholars at Maple Hill, Maple Hill Annex at Truman Moon and Carter. Presidential Park’s second night on September 18, with events coming at the high school and both middle schools.

Families had - and will have - the opportunity to meet their scholar’s teacher, who spoke about the classroom routine and their expectations. They toured the building, had a chance to meet building administrators, as well members of the district’s Food Service department and Technology. Each school’s Parent Teacher Organization was recruiting new members.

Carter Principal Kathleen Jensen said it was great to have her school filled with scholars and their families. Maple Hill Assistant Principal Regina Trout said the overall experience was a positive one for her families. Presidential Park Assistant Principal Kara Raap called the night a success with a great turnout.

Maple Hill Annex at Truman Moon Principal Tracey Sorrentino’s school hosted back-to-back nights.

“It was a comprehensive two nights really geared to giving a holistic picture of their child’s day, and being ready to answer any questions they have,” she said. “What I saw were parents totally de-stressed when they left, because they got to meet their teacher. It was a very warm kindergarten open house, where parents were greeted with friendship, kinship and excitement.”

If you have any questions, please reach out to your scholar’s building. We look forward to continuing this great relationship with our scholars and families throughout the school year.
