Summer Programs
Let summertime begin! Summer regression (or summer slide) is the natural tendency for scholars to lose some of the academic skills they gained during the year when their brains are not being challenged over the long break. Keep your scholar’s mind and body active this summer by registering them for one of our summer programs.
Scholars who are registered in the district are eligible to participate in summer programs. Families must register scholars in advance for all summer programs. All summer programs are offered at no additional cost to families. Bus transportation, pre-fuel (breakfast) and re-fuel (lunch) are available for all scholars participating in summer programs. Let's make this summer unforgettable with a perfect blend of education and excitement!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a cost to families associated with any of the summer programs? All programs are FREE.
Will all campers be offered pre-fuel (breakfast) or refuel (lunch) every day? Yes. Pre-fuel (breakfast) and re-fuel (lunch) is available daily.
Are there extended program hours available? No.
Will transportation be provided for my child? Similar to the school year, transportation will be provided by Mid-City Transit. During the summer, we use community stops. All kindergarten and first graders must be met by a parent/guardian or sibling that is at least 13 years of age.
Is my child allowed to change camps if there are openings elsewhere? No. Scholars must be signed up in advance for programs.
Why is each scholar limited to one summer program? What if there are openings in summer programs once the registration period closes? We want to provide the opportunity for as many of our scholars to participate in our summer programs. If there are openings after the registration closes, we will notify families of openings using ParentSquare, Facebook and the district website during the week of June 15.
How do I show proof of a current physical for my child? A current physical is required for participation in all sports camps by June 26, 2026. You can contact the Nurse’s Office to see if there is a current physical on file. If there is not a current physical on file, you (1) can upload an image or PDF of the physical or (2) bring a copy of the physical to the Nurse’s Office at your scholar’s school.
Are you accepting student volunteers? Yes. High school scholars are able to volunteer (and earn community service hours if needed). Scholars should reach out to their building administrator if they are interested in volunteering for camp. All volunteers must be approved by the Board of Education.
If I need to speak with someone regarding my child, whom should I call? The top of this webpage lists all camp locations and contacts.
Does my child have to bring supplies? Most supplies will be provided. Depending on the program, your scholar may need to bring items such as their musical instrument, Chromebook or sports-specific equipment like shin guards and cleats. Please refer to the welcome letter for the program for more information.
What happens if it rains? Will camp be postponed? Camps will operate as scheduled regardless of weather. For sports camps, scholars will be relocated inside during days when it rains or it is extremely hot.
Do I need to take my child to the doctor to get a physical? Physicals expire 12 months after the date signed by the doctor. Parents/guardians can request the school nurse provide a physical exam.
Will my child be allowed to have their phone with them? Yes. We want scholars to be engaged in their summer program experience. Cellphones must be turned off and put away during all summer programs. Scholars participating in the Middle School and High School Summer Learning Program will be required to place their phones and wireless earbuds in Yondr pouches.
Can my child bring a water bottle? Yes. Scholars can bring their own water bottle.
Does my child have to eat pre-fuel (breakfast) and re-fuel (lunch)? Scholars are welcome to bring their own pre-fuel (breakfast) and re-fuel (lunch).
Does my child have to bring a bookbag or bag? For most programs, it is not necessary to bring a bookbag or bag. Please refer to the welcome letter for the program for more information.
