College and Career Center

  • Do you know where you’re going after Middletown High School?  Do you have no clue or are unsure of where to start? Well, it’s never too early to start and that’s where we come in!  Middletown High School is the only school in Orange County that offers the unique resource of a College and Career Center, in addition to the guidance department.  The College and Career Center, located in the back of the high school's library/media center, was created to help students from their freshman year through graduation.

Our staff, having previously worked as college representatives, offers our students and their families an insider perspective on the college and career process.  We meet both with students and families, one-on-one, to create a personalized journey throughout the career search, college application and financial aid process.  If college is not the student’s ultimate goal, we work closely with local businesses and labor unions to help students find their career fit.

The College and Career Center brings colleges to our students.  Through the months of September, October and November each year, we host about 60 schools individually to meet with small groups of students.  We also host two college fairs, one in the Fall and Spring where over 100 colleges and universities attend and assist students in discovering their college and career options. Additionally, we host four field trips to colleges, a FAFSA workshop, Career Fair, an Advocacy Workshop, Admission Days and an Instant Decision Event.  At our most recent Instant Decision Event, 11 Colleges within a three-hour radius came to MHS for a full day, reviewed applications, transcripts, letters of recommendation and test scores and were able to admit 52 students!
