When Middletown closes school, delays its opening or closes early:
This information is shared with the community in a timely fashion through district-affliated communication outlets. It is announced through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, the SchoolMessenger system, the district website and the district's Facebook page, which is titled: "Enlarged City School District of Middletown." We no longer will be using local media outlets, such as radio stations and newspapers. Make sure your household has a plan to accommodate for these situations.
If school is closed due to inclement weather, the day is a non-instructional day. Students are not expected to login to the classrooms, and will not be assigned additional classwork on snow days (non-instructional days).
In the event of a delayed opening, elementary scholars will begin their instructional day the delayed number of hours later (two or three) - and that day's in-school schedule will be adjusted. Dismissal times will remain the same. Middle school and high school students will begin their school day on a delayed schedule (two or three hours). Bell schedules can be found in the Directions and Hours section on each school's webpage on the website.
This snow-day plan is fluid and subject to revision. If there are any changes, we will promptly communicate changes/revisions to the school community. Thank you for your support and understanding. Closing school is never an easy decision. However, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
