Pierre, Elia selected for all-state music festival

Middletown will once again be represented at the NYSSMA All State Music Festival in Rochester, NY in December! Acceptance into All State is based on student performances and evaluations at the NYSSMA Solo Festivals in the spring. In order to be selected a musician must perform a level 6 solo and select to be adjudicated as an All State candidate (a more rigorous evaluation).

The following musicians have been selected for:

All State Mixed Chorus

Zacchary Pierre

All State Symphony Orchestra

Zacchary Pierre

All State Symphonic Band

Vincenza Elia

These musicians were selected as alternates for All State Mixed Chorus:

Jay Royes

Zacchary Pierre will have to choose between performing in Mixed Chorus or Symphony Orchestra - unfortunately he can’t do both since they rehearse at the same time. Musicians chosen as an alternate will be notified by November if they will be selected for the group.

A big congratulations to Greg Bennett, Megan Gugliotta, and Guy Johanson on their work to prepare these musicians for the NYSSMA solos and for the work they will do to prepare them for the upcoming All State performances.

These accomplishments are achieved at MHS, but the foundation for this level of musicianship begins years before as these musicians were in Elementary School.
