OU-BOCES honors two MHS scholars
Middletown High School juniors Laila Carty and Antonio Contreras and their families recently were honored at the Orange-Ulster BOCES 2025 Humanities Honoree Breakfast at the Otterkill Country Club. Both have distinguished themselves in humanities courses during their MHS years, including involvement in extracurricular activities.

Antonio is a multi-talented scholar who has a passion for literature and history. He is a member of Youth in Government and the Middletown Athletes Care (MAC) clubs. After graduation, Antonio is interested in pursuing a degree in public policy.

Laila enjoys volunteering both inside and outside of school, like at the Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament and Special Olympics. She participates in many clubs and programs, including basketball, lacrosse, tennis, and Youth in Government. After graduation, Laila hopes to study criminal justice and criminology.
