Learn About "Extended Day Instruction"
Extended Day Instruction (EDI)
What is EDI?
EDI is used to provide remedial and academic enrichment opportunities outside of the school day. Most programs are offered after school for one hour. EDI is funded through the Title IV federal grant, so programs are free for scholars. Bus transportation and snacks are also provided after school.
EDI in Elementary Schools
Elementary scholars receive academic support which includes engaging activities that reinforce social skills, confidence, and academic success in literacy, mathematics and STEM. This is offered Tuesday through Thursday for one hour.
Scholars can also participate in Legacy Maker Academy, which offers a rotating schedule of enrichment activities, including coding, culinary, and music. Sessions will be designed to ignite curiosity, develop skills, and spark joy in learning through hands-on exploration. Dates for this program will be determined at a later date.

Each academy runs for approximately five weeks, focusing on a specific NWEA MAP domain aligned with NYS Learning Standards to strengthen foundational skills and support academic growth.
