Coding team performs well at Siena
Congratulations to MHS coding team members Chase Nunez, Daniel Zaninovic, Jeremiah Sirois, Angelo Di Matteo, Kevin Lin and Matthew Charles for great performances in the annual Siena College Coding Competition.
At the competition, students are split into groups of 3-4 and tasked with solving seven computing problems within a three-hour time frame. Students can solve the problems using Python or Java, but are not allowed to use the internet to help them.
The problems become more difficult as students progressed through the competition (i.e. Problem 1 is easier than Problem 3). There are two levels in the competition: Green and Gold. Chase, Daniel and Jeremiah finished fifth among 60 Green teams. Angelo, Kevin and Matthew came in 16th.
We had a total of 22 students competing (6 teams total). All teams solved at least 3 out of the 7 problems (which is actually really great for the competition!) All teams that returned for a second time did better than they did last year.
The team is photographed here with Mr. Donohue, Mrs. Sheedy, Dr. Connell, Ms. Koontz and Coach Guthrie.
