Best-selling author Jason Reynolds visits MHS
Noted author Jason Reynolds captivated Middletown High School audiences on Wednesday, as he visited the school to close out the school's month-long celebration highlighting "Middies Love to Read."
Reynolds, whose work has appeared on the New York Times No. 1 Best-Selling Author list, had conversations with scholars in the theater, library media center and with a special group of writing contest winners. Mr. Fratto and Mrs. Londrigan did a great job serving as hosts of these sessions, which were in front of more than 500 scholars.
His work, which caters to young adults, high school and middle school young people, aims to depict the rich inner lives of kids of color and ensure they see themselves and their communities in literature. Our scholars have spent the last month reading various books by Reynolds in their English Language Arts classes, which really added to Wednesday’s visit.
He also had an impromptu gathering over lunch with writing contest winners, who were selected for their hard work and creativity. Congratulations to Ashley Williams, Christian St. Felix, Destiny Harriott, Doyel Suquilanda Guaylias, Gabriel Morales, Gabriella Dejesus, Haily Campoverde, Jailynn Harmon, Jamaralyse Warner, Jason Montano, Jillian Galdamez, Joshua Smith, Kalyani Ramkissoon, Leslly Covarrubias Moya and Nestor Flores Lopez.
