Our message regarding emergency days

Dear Middletown Families,

This winter has brought extreme temperatures and snowfall, leading to several school delays and closures. We know these decisions impact your childcare and work schedules. Please know that we only close school when it is absolutely necessary to ensure our scholars and staff can travel safely.

Emergency Days Update

As of February 26, 2026, we have two (2) emergency days remaining. If we experience additional closures that exceed these two (2) days, we will make up the time during Spring Recess in the following order:

  • Monday, March 30
  • Tuesday, March 31
  • Wednesday, April 1

Staying Warm & Safe

As temperatures remain low, please ensure your scholar dresses warmly for the school day. While we do not go outside for recess or Physical Education (PE) when the "real feel" is below 30°F or surfaces are icy, scholars must be prepared for the cold.

This is especially important for the scholars who walk to school. Along with winter coats, hats and gloves, please ensure your scholar is wearing proper footwear to stay dry and warm during their commute.

If you need help obtaining winter coats, hats, gloves or boots, please reach out to your school’s main office. Additional resources are also available on the district website.

Thank you for your continued partnership and understanding as we navigate the rest of the winter season together.

Sincerely,
Camille Adoma
Acting Superintendent of Schools
