We are proud to celebrate the incredible success of the Personalized Learning and Innovators Fellowships and recognize the dedication of the educators who completed this collaborative journey.

This year, 34 educators dedicated their time beyond the school day to begin with the end in mind, designing personalized learning experiences that meet the unique needs of the whole child. As Middletown Legacy Makers, these educators are supporting scholars in discovering their passions and finding ways to contribute value to their school community. Of those participants, 19 returned as Legacy Fellows in our advanced Innovators Fellowship, deepening their expertise through research-based exploration and collaborative inquiry.

Throughout the six-month fellowships, educators strengthened their practices in scholar ownership, goal-setting, and flexible path and pace. By focusing on targeted instruction, collaboration, and creativity, our fellows have created human-centered environments where scholars are empowered to find their voice and become more self-determined members of our community. This commitment has had a powerful impact on scholar engagement, achievement, and leadership within the classroom.

The Capstone Celebration provided an opportunity for fellows to showcase their growth and reflect on their learning journeys. One of the highlights was the presentation by Innovator Fellows Vanessa Duddie and Dana Fontanez. They were joined by their elementary students and families to showcase “The Math Coach Project.” By including families in this experience, they helped cultivate a culture where communication is the bridge between scholars, families, and educators. Seeing these young scholars synergize with their peers to present how they are leading their own learning through peer coaching perfectly captures the heart of our mission: empowering students to reach their full potential as lifelong learners.

The entire event highlighted the passion, creativity, and dedication our teachers bring to Middletown classrooms every day. This year marks the fourth year of the Fellowship, with a total of 250 educators having engaged in this work to build a legacy of impactful actions.
