Is there a cost to families associated with any of the summer programs?

Will transportation be provided for my child?
Posted by:Similar to the school year, transportation will be provided by Mid-City Transit. During the summer, we use community stops. All kindergarten and first graders must be met by a parent/guardian or sibling that is at least 13 years of age.

Will all campers be offered pre-fuel(breakfast) or re-fuel(lunch) everyday?
Posted by:Yes. Pre-fuel(breakfast) and re-fuel(lunch) is available daily.

Does my child have to eat the pre-fuel(breakfast) and re-fuel(lunch)?
Posted by:Scholars are welcome to bring their own pre-fuel(breakfast) and re-fuel(lunch).

Why is there a lotter system involved for these programs? Whe will I know if my child gets into a program? Is there a waiting list?
Posted by:We want to provide the opportunity for as many of our scholars to participate in at least one summer program. The lottery provides an equal chance of participation in our summer programs. Scholars not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waitlist and will be notified if there is an opening. Go to the Summer Camp Registration page for more information.

Elementary Summer Camp Programs

Elementary Summer Program eligibility: This is determined by the grade your scholar was enrolled in during the 2022-23 school year. Example: A scholar in grade 2 during the 2022-23 school year is not eligible for Music Camp (grades 3-8).

Art Camp
Dates: July 24- July 28
Time: 8:45 AM - 1:15 PM

Join us for a creative and fun-filled week! Scholars will learn a variety of art techniques and explore different mediums in a supportive environment that builds scholars' imaginations and encourages self-expression. -
Cooking Camp Grade 2,3,4
Dates: July 17- July 21
Time: 8:45 AM - 1:15 PM

Cooking Camp is designed to inspire healthy eating habits in scholars and teach them how to prepare simple and nutritious meals. Through hands-on cooking demonstrations and interactive activities, scholars will learn about healthy food choices, proper nutrition and creating tasty meals using fresh ingredients. -
Cooking Camp Grade 5

Cooking Camp is designed to inspire healthy eating habits in scholars and teach them how to prepare simple and nutritious meals. Scholars will be mixed with 6th grade scholars during this camp. -
Middie All-Stars Sensory Friendly Athletic Camp
Dates: July 17- July 21
Time: 8:45 AM - 1:15 PM
Location: Presidential Park Elementary
2022-2023 Grade(s): K, 1, 2
During this fun-filled week, scholars will utilize a variety of motor skills and movement patterns while participating in creative writing activities. Scholars will also learn and play cooperative games that focus on teamwork, trust, collaboration and communication. -
Middie Music Camp
Dates: July 10 - July 21
Time: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Middletown High School
2022-2023 Grade(s): 3, 4, 5
Middie Music Camp is a program for musicians currently grades 3-8 who are already enrolled in an instrumental or vocal ensemble. During camp, all musicians will participate in an ensemble for their instrument/voice and sing in chorus. Musicians will participate in electives in mariachi, drumming, ukulele, composition, and show choir! Camp will conclude with an all camp concert. Musicians must be able to commit to all two (2) weeks of camp. -
Sensory Camp
Dates: August 7 - August 11
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Sensory Camp provides a safe space for our scholars with disabilities to access and engage in sensory-based learning activities that include movement, sensory stations, social skills building, and more. -
STEM Camp
Session 1 Dates: July 17-July 21
Session 2 Dates: August 7-August 11
Time: 8:30 AM - 1 PM

This year, we will be offering two sessions of STEM Camp. Each session will be one (1) week. The goal of STEM Camp is to foster a love of STEM through the use of hands-on activities and real world applications. -
Theatre Camp
Dates: July 24 - August 11
Time: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Monhagen Middle School
2022-2023 Grade(s): 5
All scholars will audition and receive a role in a performance. Throughout the camp, scholars will learn their role and participate in rehearsals leading up to the final performance on the last day of camp. Scholars will rehearse and perform with 6th and 7th graders. Scholars must be able to commit to all three (3) weeks of camp. -
Writers. Athletes. Leaders. Athletic Focus: Basketball
Dates: August 7- August 11

Algebra Adventures Camp
Dates: August 14- August 18
Time: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Monhagen Middle School
2022-2023 Grade(s): 6, 7
This camp is for 6th & 7th graders entering the accelerated/honors math courses in the 2023-2024 school year. Scholars will participate in hands-on activities to review the prerequisite skills necessary for the 7th & 8th grade Accelerated Math courses. Scholars will share their learnings in a showcase on the last day of camp. -
Art Camp
Dates: July 24- July 28
Time: 8:45 AM - 1:15 PM

BioMed Camp
Dates: July 31- August 4
Time: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Middletown High School
2022-2023 Grade(s): 7, 8
Scholars will explore basic medical topics and procedures such as learning about diseases or conditions that are common among teenagers (asthma, cardiovascular, allergies, concussions); measuring vital signs and nutrition guidelines for teenagers. For the culminating activity, scholars will diagnose a classmate experiencing a hypothetical medical problem and present their findings and treatment to the group. -

Scholars will learn fundamental skills to play Rocket League, Madden, Smash Brothers video games while increasing their confidence, building their communication skills and improving their teamwork. -
Language Immersion Camp
Dates: July 10 - July 21
Time: 8:45 AM - 1: 15PM
Location: Presidential Park Elementary
2022-2023 Grade(s): 6, 7, 8
Language Immersion Summer Camp is an opportunity for scholars in grades 6-12 to learn the basics of either the English language or Spanish language in the areas of speaking, listening, reading & writing. The camp is designed to learn the essential elements for communication and literacy skills in a target language.
No prior experience with the English or Spanish language is necessary. -
Middie All-Stars Sensory Friendly Athletic Camp
Dates: July 31- August 4
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: Presidential Park Elementary
2022-2023 Grade(s): 6, 7, 8
Our goal is to create a sensory friendly intramural program that provides a safe space for our students with disabilities to access, engage in, and learn a variety of athletic skills and sports. -
Middie Music Camp
Dates: July 10 - July 21

2022-2023 Grade(s): 6,7,8

MHS is offering summer dual enrollment courses from Siena College and Syracuse University as well as an enrichment opportunity to earn the Seal of Civic Readiness. Programs include:- Siena Psychology
- SUPA College Learning Strategies (must be taken with another college course)
- SUPA Public Policy (incoming seniors only)
- MHS Seal of Civic Readiness Capstone Course (incoming seniors only)
