What is the National Scholastic Art Program?
Mission: To identify students with exceptional artistic talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Arte & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.
Celebrating 100 years!!
- The Art and Writing Scholastic Awards began in 1923 and a noteworthy roster of past winners include Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Stephen King, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates.
- Over 100 Regional Affiliates across the U.S. and Canada
- Over 70,000 Students in grades 7-12.
- 250,000 art submissions.
- 17 art categories.

Regional Hudson Valley Art Alliance
- Began 2008-09.
- Includes Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess and Ulster counties.
- Partner with Sullivan BOCES, Orange BOCES, Dutchess BOCES,
- Ulster BOCES, and Orange County Art Council.
- Over 600 students participated.
- Almost 2500 submissions.
- 24 schools participated across four counties.

Adjudication
- Blind Judging: Our jurors do not know the identities of students who submit work.
- Freedom of Expression: No work will be disqualified on the basis of its content.
- The Criteria: Originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal vision or voice.

- Regional Exhibition at SUNY New Paltz - Feb 3rd - Feb 26th
