• 19-20 MHS Collaborative Space Overview

    Launch date: October 2, 2019

    The focus of our space this year is to support our students to foster independence academically in two distinct ways.  First, we are focusing on our ninth grade students by creating small group opportunities for students to develop vital skills in english, math, social studies and science.  Students will be invited to participate in this small group instruction and maintain participation in four week intervals. Each group meets for approximately one hour on rotating days.  The schedule would be as follows:

    Session 1 (2:40-3:40):  English or Math

    Session 1 (2:40-3:40) :  Social Studies or Science

    Session 2 (3:40-4:40) :  English or Math

    Session 2 (3:40-4:40) :  Social Studies or Science

    Students will meet in the cafeteria for a snack at 2:20 and be picked up and transported to the upstairs collaborative space at 2:40 for their first session.  They will then move into the second session group for another content area or work on organizational tasks in the executive functioning space. After the second session (4:40),  students will proceed to the cafeteria for a light meal before boarding the bus at 5:00 pm.  

    For students in grades 9-12 that need support and focus on completing assignments, we will utilize the library to provide this support.  Students will gather in the cafeteria at 2:20 and be picked up and brought to the library at 2:40 for their first session. They will be expected to complete a goal sheet with the tasks that they are completing listed.  Prior to their exit, they will need to review their progress with the teacher supporting them and submit their reflection sheet with their goals accomplished. They will then move into the second session group for another content area or work on organizational tasks in the executive functioning space.  After the second session (4:40), students will proceed to the cafeteria for a light meal before boarding the bus at 5:00 pm.
