To slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in New York State, Governor Cuomo announced on April 16, all public and private K–12 school facilities will be closed and prohibited from providing traditional in-person instructional activities through the end of the academic year. Many areas of the world, including the United States, are experiencing an expanding outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus, COVID-19.
As our students, families, and broader community plan for this extension on our closure, we are committed to providing ongoing guidance and resources as we sort through this unprecedented situation together.
Please note the following important highlights:
- Marking Period 3 - makeup work can be completed and used toward a student’s final grade up until May 1.
- Marking Period 4 officially began on April 15
- New work will be assigned and work will be graded
- Attendance will be taken
- There will be no quarterly exams for Marking Periods 3 and 4
- There will be no final exams
A new coronavirus called 2019 Novel (new) Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first found in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. This virus had not been found in humans before. This coronavirus can lead to fever, cough and trouble breathing or shortness of breath. There are thousands of diagnosed cases in China and new cases being diagnosed in a number of countries including the United States.
