Our kids learn about banking, saving money
Mechanicstown News ON Feb 07, 2012
Third-graders at William A. Carter Elementary School all week will be learning about banking, money and saving it, thanks to visits from local Orange County Trust Company employees.
Debra Weaver, Carla Alfieri and Jessica Korn were kind enough to give of themselves Tuesday, speaking with three classes, including Matt Hayden's. The women work in the Middletown offices. Orange County Trust also will have people visit classes on Wednesday and Thursday.
Hayden's class learned about the distinguishing features on money that identify it as real, where the money is issued throughout the United States and why certain people's faces appear on money.
The children also were engaged in a discussion about saving money, about the difference between "wanting" something and "needing" something.
