Drug sweep conducted at school—nothing found

MAY 2006—A drug sweep was conducted at Twin Towers Middle School on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. No illegal substances were found in lockers or common areas at the school. This is first time this year that the school was searched by K-9 units for illegal substances. The sweep is part of an ongoing effort by the district to keep students and buildings safe.

Twin Towers students get artwork published
FEB. 2006— Four Twin Towers Middle School students are having their artwork published in Catching Days and Chasing Nights, a collection of original poetic stories that describe the thoughts, dreams and experiences of children.

The author, Don Napolitini, a local Middletown businessman, contacted 40 Orange County schools to submit student artwork to illustrate his book.  Over 4,200 pieces of artwork were submitted from which 39 illustrations were chosen and published. Four of the 39 published student artists attend Twin Towers Middle School and have Kim Dodge as their art teacher. They are: Gabriana Guzman; Katey Knapp; Jessilyn Laput; and Aaron Segarra.

"It is thrilling for our students to have their art work published at such a young age," said Dodge.  "These students spent a great deal of time studying the poetry for descriptive imagery, working on creating good compositions, and developing technique skills.  We are all very proud of their accomplishments." Students were honored at the February 9, 2006, Board of Education meeting.

Meet SRO Kevin Weymer
FALL 2006
Twin Towers welcomed School Resource Officer Kevin Weymer, a member of the Middletown Police Department, this fall. Officer Weymer is been responsible for direct police services at the school. He also serves as a law-related education teacher and offers law-related counseling services.

"The addition of Officer Weymer to our school helps us maintain a safe and orderly environment in which to work and learn," said school administration.
