Twin Towers Theater Workshop group's  "Peter Pan" a hit!
MAY 2005
On Thursday, May 25, 2005, the TTMS Theater group presented "Peter Pan" in the school's auditorium. The production was produced, directed, and choreographed by Roberta Monkash, and featured a cast and crew of 50 students. Set design was by Kim Dodge and Bill Hull, costumes by Pat Hehn, music played by Nicolette Marino and Natalie Gibbs, and flying magic by Pat Scali.

Eighth graders participate in poetry reading
APRIL 2005In celebration of Poetry Month, the 8th grade Tiger Cluster, 100 students in all, performed a poetry reading on Friday, April 29, 2005. Students read poems aloud to an audience of other students and teachers in the TTMS Library/Media Center during their scheduled English classes.

Each student selected one poem from their readings, and one which they wrote themselves. For many of the students, this was their first time in front of an audience reading original poetry. Congratulations on a job well done!

Students awarded for their science fair participation
APRIL 2005The TTMS science fair took place on April 19-20, 2005, at the school. An awards night and public showing was also held on April 20, 2005, in the TTMS cafeteria. "All grades competed in the fair," said Kevin Carbone, science teacher and event coordinator. Prizes were given out to all participants.

Drama production "Mayhem in Mayville" a success!
APRIL 2005
On April 15, 2005, the TTMS drama club put on "Mayhem in Mayville," an 80s themed Murder Mystery Dinner-Show. Guests were invited to help solve a murder mystery, while enjoying dinner and music provided by local area restaurants and by the PTO. This was the second year the production was hosted at the school. Special thanks to director Sunny Edelman, as well as all those who contributed and supported the event.

Renaissance Breakfast held to honors students

FEB. 2005Twin Towers Middle School honored second marking period students with a Renaissance Breakfast on Friday, Feb.25, 2005, with sponsored by the PTO. Congratulations on making the honor roll!

TTMS box top fundraiser raises $350
JAN. 2005The box top fundraiser is over! The winning cluster, the Oneders, was presented with an ice cream party, sponsored by the PTO. All in all, the school raised $350, which was used to purchase 20 Webster Collegiate dictionaries. The dictionaries will be distributed throughout the school.

Faculty member recognized receives national board certification

DEC. 2004Denise Woolsey, teacher at Twin Towers, was recognized by the Board of Education on Thursday, December 16, 2004, for her achievement of becoming nationally board certified in the areas of Early Adolescents and Mathematics. Woolsey has been a teacher at TTMS for eight years now, and prior to coming to the district taught at a private Catholic school.

 

Grade eight math testing levels improve

According to math results released by the State Education Department this October, achievement in elementary and middle school math is increasing statewide. Both Twin Towers Middle School and Monhagen  Middle School saw achievement increases of 17 and 13 percent.
Statewide performance on the rise
Statewide performance in math improved for the third consecutive year in a row, with 57 percent of eighth graders, and 79 percent of fourth graders across New York State exceeding or meeting the standards. Overall, the number of fourth and eight-graders who have met or exceeded state standards in math has increased by 20 percent since 1999, according to the State Education Department.
