Renaissance Breakfast held for TTMS students
MAY 2004—Renaissance
recipients were honored on May 27, 2004, with breakfast
sponsored by the school improvement team and the TTMS PTO.
The Renaissance program is designed to recognize student
accomplishments in both academics and behavior at the
school.

quarterly in conjunction with each marking period, and the
Renaissance program serves to recognize tangible
incentives which are provided by local
businesses. Congratulations to all
recipients on a job well done!
Hudson Valley Philharmonic performs for students at TTMS
APRIL 2004—The
Hudson Valley Philharmonic made its first visit to TTMS to perform this year.
The concert entitled "Myths and Legends," was a theme developed by students,
teachers and administration, in accordance with the Bardavon 1862 Opera House/ Hudson Valley Philharmonic.
It was
intended to tell myths, legends and familiar fairytales to
students through music.
The Philharmonic
performed a variety of pieces including the "Ritual Fire
Dance," and "The Overture to the Flying Dutchman," among
others. The performance was made possible a NYS Council on
the Arts grant, and a partnership between the
Middletown Fine Arts Department and the Bardavon 1862
Opera House/ Hudson Valley Philharmonic.
Drama club presents "Death by Disco"
APRIL 2004—On Friday, April 2,
2004, the
Twin Towers Drama Club put on their first ever Murder Mystery Dinner.
Theater-goers strolled down memory lane as the sixth and seventh grade
performers acted out "Death by Disco" in between courses of salad, baked
ziti, meatballs, and cake.
As the guests dined, members of the cast
"sold" clues to unlock the mystery for monopoly money. The entire production
was made possible by the efforts of the Twin Towers PTO, who provided
and prepared the food as well as a number of door prizes.
Kudos to Mrs. Edelman, Drama Club advisor,
for the tremendous success of this event, which once
again was made possible by the massive donation of time
and energy from many of the Twin Towers staff members
and parents.
Pops Concert—a collaborative effort

Renaissance
breakfast held at Twin Towers
Fall 2004—More than 170 students
were invited to the first Renaissance breakfast,
sponsored by the PTO at Twin Towers. Invited students
met the academic, behavioral, and attendance criteria in
order to make Honor Roll and High Honor Roll for the
second marking period.
In a school of 840, they
represented more than 20% of the student body, an
achievement that school administration is very proud of!
In addition to hosting a breakfast for students, the PTO
provided each student with a discount card that can be
used to frequent a variety of the area's merchants and
eateries, and a wide variety of prizes were given out at
the breakfast, including gift certificates to
McDonalds and Wendy's and several memberships
to the YMCA.
In an effort to entice more students to strive for
greater academic achievement, discount cards will soon
be given out to students who meet the same behavioral and
attendance criteria, while improving their overall grade
point average from the first to the second marking
period by .5 points. |
