l
A student may be suspended from bus riding privileges if
his/her conduct interferes with bus safety or violates
bus riding rules and regulations. If a bus driver
recommends to the principal, or designee, that a student
be suspended from riding, the school principal will be
notified of such recommendation in writing. If
suspension from bus riding privileges is deemed
necessary by the principal/designee, such recommendation
will be sent to the district transportation supervisor
who will forward said recommendation to the
Superintendent of Schools for a final decision.
l
Disciplinary action
or suspension of a student from bus riding privileges
will be documented by using the Bus Conduct Report Form.
Bus Conduct Reports are reviewed on a case-by-case
basis. However, consequences for inappropriate behavior
within the school year will generally be as follows:
First Report-Student
will speak to the assistant principal or principal.
Second Report-Assistant principal or principal will
call the parent/guardian.
Third Report-Bus privileges will be denied for up to five
school days.
l Serious
infractions, at the discretion of the principal, may be
cause for recommending suspension after only one or two
reports.
l
If there is
persistent inappropriate behavior after a child has lost
bus privileges for one week, he or she may lose bus
privileges for a period of 20 days.
l
If there is a
concern regarding student behavior on your child's bus,
it may be necessary for the school district and its bus
contractor, Mid-City Transit to videotape the children.
