Read Aloud celebrates National Library Week and draws big crowd

 
APRIL 2006First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April.  This year's theme is "Change Your World @ Your Library"  was incorporated into the Monhagen Middle School's Eighth Annual Great New York State Read Aloud held Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the media center. 

Throughout the day guest readers, staff members and students read to classes. Middletown School Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Eastwood; Board member John Perrino; Principal Eileen Shapiro; Mayor Marlinda Duncanson; Times-Herald Record journalist Steve Israel; Cable 6 reporter Tracey Baxter; Town of Wallkill Supervisor John Ward; Orange County Sheriff Carl Dubois; and others participated in the event, which celebrated reading.
