Mediation graphic.

Peer Mediation Program- Twenty-five students are selected and trained each year to participate in the peer mediation program. The program helps students learn to deal with problem solving among their peers in a non-violent manner. The mediators provide this service during lunch and recess throughout the year. Four students are recognized each month for their outstanding performance as mediators.

WEE Deliver- The Maple Hill PTO sponsors an in-school post office. Students, supervised by staff, organize and run this in-school delivery service. Students apply for a position on the Wee Deliver staff and operate out of the school library. Each of the wings has a color name (yellow, green, blue and red), all halls have names, and each class has a mailbox. The entire student body and staff participate in this program.

Maple Hill Messenger- Students on a monthly basis receive the school newsletter, Maple Hill Messenger. Recognizing that the partnership of school, home and community is necessary to succeed in our desire for excellence. The newsletter communicates information on individual student work, class notes, Maple Hill PTO news, in addition to information from teachers and administration.

Art- Students attend a weekly scheduled 45 minute art class. Opportunity to work with a variety of media is explored. Visit our school and see the beautiful art displays created by our students.

Music-
All students participate in a weekly scheduled class of general music. Appreciation of music, understanding basic concepts of musical notation and composition and participatory singing are explored to varying degrees at each grade level. The vocal music teachers will determine chorus participation for children in grades 4 an 5. Instrumental lessons are provided for interested students in grades 4 and 5; students in these grades will have the opportunity to participate in the school's band program.

Physical Education-
Physical Education classes emphasize the basic skills of body movement coordination, and body control. All classes begin with a series of warm-up exercises to prepare students for increased physical activity. Throughout the school year various teaching units are presented to students which cover a wide range of activities such as dance, gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, etc. Participation in activities and good sportsmanship is the primary goal of our physical education program.

Library-
Weekly library classes are scheduled for all students. The major objective of the library science program is to teach students how to use the library for the purpose of locating important and interesting information. Click here to visit the library site.
