Sports practices set
to begin Aug.18
JULY 2008—All
mandatory Varsity & JV fall sports practices begin Monday,
August 18, 2008. Modified sports start the first day of
school on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.

New Board of
Education President and Vice President elected
JULY 2008—At the reorganization Board of Education
meeting in early July, the Middletown Board of Education
elected a new president and vice president. Dr. Nicholas
Mauro was named Board of Education president and Lynne
Perkins was named Vice President. This is Mauro's second
year on the Board of Education and Perkins' third.

JUNE 2008—The
Elementary Summer Institute (ESI) program started on Monday, July 14,
in Middletown thanks to the
State Education Department (SED) reinstating Elementary
Summer Institute funding in early July.

Mid-City to host open house for all incoming Pre-K
and kindergarten students
JUNE 2008—Mid-City
will host an open house on August 22 and 29 from 10
a.m.-noon for all incoming Pre-K and kindergarten
students.
This is a great opportunity for
all Pre-K and kindergarten students to get on a bus,
meet a driver, take photos and learn about riding the
school bus safely before the first day of school.
Open houses will be held at
518 Rte 17M (North St.), Middletown.

JUNE 2008—Middletown City School District has been
designated as a Contract for Excellence (C4E) School
District by New York State. As part of our requirements, as
a C4E district, we must spend a portion of our state aid,
specifically
$1,501,722
million, on new programs and innovations in 2008-09.
We are required by law to present our plan and request
public commentary. Click
