Who
pushed Humpty?
MAY 25, 2004- The Grade 2 Chorley
Cherubs, presented "WHO PUSHED HUMPTY?" a Mysterious
Musical at the Paramount Theatre. The
production was produced and directed by Sherrie Bergus,
a six-year veteran performing arts teacher at Chorley.
Musical direction was by Arlene Stivers, music teacher,
and art direction was done by Missy Perna, art teacher.Congratulations to all
those students who participated in making the production
such a success! |
Chorley receives
grant funding
APRIL 2004-
Last month Chorley received $4,153 in grant funding from
Entergy for the purchase of a poster-making machine.
Lynann Day, Chorley Sr. Building Rep., drafted the
proposal for the funding and submitted it to Entergy
through Mrs. Daria Weaver.
The staff at Chorley is very excited to purchase this
tool, which will help display students’ work and
projects throughout the school. |

Assembly
honors students
APRIL 2004-
K-2 students were honored at a monthly assembly at
Chorley Elementary School.
Congratulations on a job well done!

Ensemble sings for Southwinds'
residents
APRIL
30, 2004- Nearly 40 first and second grade students in
the Chorley ensemble performed various songs from around
the world for Southwinds' residents.
The ensemble, started
about five years ago, performs fours times per year at
various retirements homes including Southwinds, St.
Teresa's, Adult Home at Erie Station and Park Manor.
It is a "wonderful experience teaching
children that have the gift of music," Arlene Stivers said. "It should be shared with those who appreciate hearing
that gift, especially when confined because of illness."

Students and staff celebrate Dr. Seuss' 100th birthday
MARCH 2, 2004- Staff and students took part in the 100th celebration of
Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2. Librarian Louise Kirkwood and the
library staff hosted the celebration by sharing several
Dr. Seuss classics with students and material on the
author's life and his accomplishments.

Spring
is in
the air-PTA hosts Spring Fling Dance
MARCH 2004-
Students danced the night away at the Spring Fling Dance
sponsored by the PTA.
Just Us
Entertainment kept students moving with music, a
bubble machine, party favors and dancers who instructed
them on different dance moves according to Mary Woodward
PTA member. "Many of the parents were up and dancing as
well," she said.
All of the
baked goods and juices for the dance were donated by
parents and the refreshment table was manned by Mary
Woodward, Mrs. Downer, kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Reiss,
assistant principal, Mr. Galvin, Mechanicstown PTO
president and
various parents throughout the night.
