ArtCyclopedia-An online Fine Arts search engine. Artcyclopedia has links to great art online, from over 8,000 famous painters, sculptors and photographers, at art museum sites and image archives worldwide. 

Arts Connected-Using the power of the Internet to stimulate new approaches to learning, the goal of ArtsConnectEd is to make arts education timely; engaging; interactive; and pertinent for both teachers and students of all ages. This Web site is filled with engaging information about the Arts. In the "art gallery," students learn the principles of art and then create their own pictures. "Surrounded by Beauty," takes a closer look at the culture of Native Americans and how it relates to art. Global Positioning is an interactive page where students can discover art from around the globe. The "playground" is interactive with activities that reinforce key artistic concepts. There are full-color images of works of art, audio and video samples, and online lesson plans.   This is an awesome resource for all grade levels.

Art Education and ArtEdventures-Art resources for creative individuals from beginner to advanced.

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery-This site provides great interactives to understand Ancient Egypt; Ancient Greece; the Roman Empire; the Victorian Age; World War II; and there is an art gallery where you can investigate concepts related to drawing (Grades 2-8).

Color in Motion-A fun way to introduce color is with this animated, interactive Web site.  Color in Motion explains how you can use color to express emotion and communicate.  There are three different parts to this site that are broken up into three different rooms.  Room 201 takes a closer look at color and sets up a profile for each color listed.  It is a fun way to learn what each color means.  Room 202 has movies that represent the symbolism of each color.  The movies are filled with great animation and fun music.  Room 203 is a lab.  You can direct a scene based on a word that represents the color of your choice, manage a “star” and learn about color symbolism, and have fun playing with color using the kaleidoscope.  This is a fun and engaging site.  This site is also available in Spanish. 

KinderArt-KinderArt ® is the largest collection of free art lessons on the Internet. What began in 1996 as a few helpful ideas for teachers and parents, has since grown into an enormous collection of resources featuring over 800 free lesson plans (K-8).

Matisse Cut-Outs-Celebrate artist Henri Matisse with this site that provides a simple, fun games for young learners. Students can create a design inspired by his work. Players learn about layering and manipulating shapes and other elements of art and design (Grades 2-8).

Mr. Picassohead-Starting with a blank canvas, users drag the different pieces from the selection with all of the parts drawn in the style of Pablo Picasso. Other tools allow you to scale the picture, add color, and more. When you’re finished sign the painting and then save it.

The Element of Art-The Elements Of Art Web site help students to look at a work of art, and identify which Elements of Art the artist stressed, organized or used to express a message or to create a mood.

Music:
Classicsforkids.com-This site is designed to help you use classical music as part of your daily classroom activities. Classical music not only has the power to stimulate the mind, enrich the heart, and soothe the soul; it can also help you meet the educational objectives of your students.

Continental Harmony-The activities in the Continental Harmony Web site are designed for informal, at-home use by kids and families and for classroom use as great supplements for technology-infused instruction. This site has a rich interactive section titled the Sound Lounge where you can go inside the composer’s brain and explore music.  There is a teacher’s guide where you can find lesson plans to discover how you might incorporate the activities on the site into your curriculum!      

Creating Music-Creatingmusic.com is a children's online creative music environment for children of all ages. It's a place for kids to compose music, play with musical performance, complete music games and music puzzles. Come discover fun and easy ways to make music (K-5).

Creative Kids Central-The world of classical music is one of enchantment, beauty, imagery and sound. The Creative Kids Central home page is designed to introduce visitors to the different forms of classical music through sound and pictures.

Essentials of Classical Music-This Web site is a great overview of classical music. The sections include a glossary of over 200 musical terms, a collection of almost 70 short biographies of classical musicians, and an overview of the six major periods of classical music. 

Exploratorium Science of Music-What is music? Is birdsong music? How about the tap-tap-tap of a hammer, or the wail of a creaking door? Is playing a garbage can different than playing a drum? Explore the science of music through online exhibits; movies; and questions. Along the way, you can compose; mix; dance; drum; experiment; and above all, listen. 

Guitaracoustics-The site dives into the anatomy of the guitar.

Numbera.com-This site called, The Method Behind the Music, explains how instruments work.

NY Philharmonic Kids Zone-This is a great Web site for students who want to explore music.  Making great use of Flash, this site offers kids an inside look at how a symphony orchestra is organized; gives information about instruments; explains the role of the conductor; and profiles of composers and musicians.

PBS–Jazz Kids –This is another outstanding resource from PBS.  PBS Jazz Kids is an interactive experience with music.  This site features biographies on many jazz legends; an interactive timeline where you can click on a date and take a journey back in time to discover how jazz became America's music; a meet a musicians section, where you can discover the “how, what, and why” of jazz; you can become the bandleader, and discover what different instruments sound like; and more. 

Playmusic.org-This site, from The New York State Council on the Arts, offers music games; information about orchestra instruments; lets you meet young composers; and write your own music!

San Francisco Kids-Fun With Music-Consider this site your premier Web destination for learning about music. 

Songs for Teachers-Welcome to Songs 4 Teachers. The site features more than 125 theme related songs & poems, which are ALL FREE!

Songs for Teaching-Creative teachers can use music to teach content across the curriculum to students of all ages. A host of educational experts brings you tested ideas for using the magic of music in your lesson plans.

The Renaissance Connection-Explore Renaissance visual arts and innovations and their role in the making of the modern world. By applying research into learning styles and user engagement, this site is a suite of interactive online activities and resources for middle school students and teachers (6-12).

Virtual Keyboard-This Web site is great to use with a SMART Board.  Use the keys on the screen to play notes (Grades K-12).
