Cabela's Iditarod Trail Race Coverage-At this site, you can access updated information on the trial and
current standings. There is also information about the
history of the race, the current trail, rules of the
race, weather information, and a profile on each dog (Grades 2-12).

Exploratorium-
The Exploratorium is a museum of
science, art, and human perception located in San
Francisco, California. Their Web site explores hundreds
of different topics including solar eclipses, sports,
language, and much more.
Explore-This Web project provides "four to eXplore" for each topic.
On each page you'll find definitions; activities; four
good starting points; and many more links and resources
for the thematic topic. Web site highlight:technology-enriched lesson

is a must for teachers and students alike (Grades 2-8).
The Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race-It’s
unlike any other event in the world. A race over 1,150
miles of the most extreme and beautiful terrain known to
man—across mountain ranges; frozen rivers; dense
forests; desolate tundra; and windswept coastline. Add
sub-zero temperatures and blinding winds, and you’ve got
the makings of a legendary adventure. That’s the
Iditarod (Grades 2-12).

Thinkfinity-Internet Content for the Classroom is a
nonprofit consortium of premier national and
international education organizations and the MCI
Foundation dedicated to providing the highest quality
Internet content and professional development to
teachers and students throughout the United States. Web
site highlights: lesson plans; interactive content;
worksheets; and more.
McGruff the Crime Dog-McGruff the Crime Dog, and
mascot of the National Crime Prevention Council, is
interested in helping you "take a bite out of crime."
Students can color; read comic strips; play lots of
terrific games; and get great safety tips from McGruff!
There is also a special section for adults to clue them
in on safety subjects for their kids.
National Geographic Kids- National Geographic for
Kids is a comprehensive Web site with new articles;
research resources; games; activities; experiments; and
homework help. Also included in this site is an
education guide. This guide has resources for teachers
and parents, all in an effort to make students
geographically literate (3-12).
New York Times–Daily Lesson Plan-An excellent
resource for middle and high school students. Lesson
plans are created daily using the newspaper for current
events. Academic standards are listed as well as
overviews, activities, procedures and resources needed.
NickJr-Click
on play where you will find read along stories, phonics
activities, and Dora's interactive food pyramid, to name
a few, interactive games that go along with the TV shows
from the Nickelodeon channel (K-2).
Panoramas of the World-Students
will enjoy geography when they can actually step into a
"panorama" of the place they are visiting. Visitors
actually feel as if they are in the most exciting,
beautiful, historic, and remote parts of the earth
through these panoramas. Panoramas include places
including: the Moon; Mars; Mt. Everest; the Taj Mahal; Colorado River; Rock of Gibralter; the Gates in Central Park; and the Eiffel
Tower, but students can also search for specific
countries or places in the news. What a great way for
students to take a virtual field trip.
PBS Kids-This Web site comes from the PBS television network and
highlights many of their children's programming with
educational activities for young children (Pre-K-2).
PBS Kids:CyberChase-CyberChase is from PBS kids
and offers critical thinking games to challenge kids.
PBS Teacher Source-PBS Teacher Source has lesson
plans and activities that are searchable by subject and
grade level.
Primary Games-Online
activities in all subject areas for the primary level.
Topics covered include: English Language Arts (ELA); math;
science; and social studies. Each subject area has a
curriculum guide that allows you to view a list of
activities correlated to a topic and appropriate grade
level (K-4).
Reading
is Fundamental–Poetry Splatter-Writing
poems has never been so much fun. Using Poetry
Splatter is easy. Students simply choose a poem title
from a list. When they see their poem frame, they fill
in the blanks with words that are spattered onto the
screen.
ReadWriteThink-A Web site that has a partnership between the
International Reading Association (IRA), the National
Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the MarcoPolo
Education Foundation. ReadWriteThink offers a wide
array of standards-based lesson plans that meaningfully
integrate Internet content into the teaching and/or
learning experience. An important component of
ReadWriteThink is the collection of Web resources. These
resources are selected in adherence to a rigorous set of
criteria and are thoroughly reviewed by a ReadWriteThink Review Panel. ReadWriteThink offers a collection
of online student materials to support literacy learning
in K-12 classrooms. These interactive tools can be
used to supplement a variety of lessons and provide an
opportunity for students to use technology while
developing their literacy skills. Interactive
activities include: poems; letter recognition; animals;
comparison and contrast; literary elements; timelines;
story maps; and much more.
Scholastic:Magic School Bus-This
site has a variety of resources that can be used to
enhance teaching and learning. There are educational
games related to specific topics, guided tours
(including tours of the human body, insects, and
dinosaurs), a simple science section, a theme index, and
a place for teachers and parents to go to gather more
resources (Grades 1-6).
Smithsonian Kids-The
Smithsonian Institution is not just one museum, but 15
different ones! You can find them all online. At this
site, there are several interesting and fun educational
activities for kids to try (Grades 2-12).
The Digital Scoop–This site includes various
ready-made Kidpsiration templates for all subject areas
(Grades K-4).
Time for Kids-Timeforkids.com,
the online version of Time for Kids magazine, is the
news, homework helper and exploration destination for
kids on the Internet. The site keeps you on top of the
news and lets you create; learn; get involved; explore;
play games; and access tools to help you with your
homework.
Tools for Teaching Tolerance-A great Web site that
has information about teaching tolerance; activities
related to teaching tolerance; online activities and
guides; FREE handbooks and kits related to tolerance;
and much more. There are sections specifically
designated for teens and kids. Each of these sections
has a variety of activities, and resources related to
teaching tolerance in school, at home, and in their
community. There is even a parent section that includes
information on how to talk to your kids about tolerance,
10 ways to nurture tolerance, and online resources
related to tolerance. This is a GREAT resource for
promoting equity and diversity!
