Find out what’s happening in the Middletown school district

"I am Middletown" ready for third year

Academic News ON Jul 20, 2012

The "I am Middletown" feature was created at the beginning of the 2010-11 school year as a way for the children of our district to introduce themselves to the community.

The kids go through a mini-interview, though it really doesn't feel like one. There are 25 possible questions, each designed for them to reveal a little bit about themselves. They randomly select anywhere from six to eight, by reaching into a bag filled with numbered poker chips that each represent a question.

Then everybody gets to fill in the same blank at the end: "In 10 years I'll be....."

The result is look at a pretty unique kid. That's the very soul of the "I am Middletown" feature. Middletown isn't made up of the same kids. It's the differences in the kids that make up Middletown.

This feature started in the high school, but moved into the middle school near the end of the first year. This past school year featured students from Middletown High School, Twin Towers Middle School and Monhagen Middle School. In 2012-13, we hope to include children from Maple Hill and Carter.
