Our people involved with "The Classic"

The Classic 10K and Rowley 5K road races were held in Middletown on Sunday, with Middletown High School serving at start and finish. Although not technically a school event, our people were all over it, either as volunteers are participants.

As competitors, Middletown sophomore Alex Shodai - pictured on the front page - made headlines as the top local and non-professional finisher. He completed the 10-kilometer course (6.2 miles) in 34:13 - good for 18th overall.

Middletown students Karen Acevedo, Alexxa Guerrero and Amber Goodspeed teamed to finish second in the 5K Rowley Cup team challenge, less than one minute behind first-place Warwick.
