Bynum, Goodspeed win Sect. 9 titles

Middletown's Jamal Bynum was a double-winner at the Section 9 Class A track and field championships, held recently at the Faller Field complex.

Bynum won the triple jump (47 feet, 2 inches) and long jump (20-8 3/4), and seems poised to make a good showing in the upcoming state championship meet. Bynum missed the indoor statge championships due to an injury.

Middletown's Amber Goodspeed also continued her domination in 2,000-meter steeplechase, winning (6:58.08) by more than 14 seconds.

In the boys' meet, Octavious Wilborn finished second in the 800 (1:59.25). C.J. Clarke took second in the triple jump (43-6 1/4). Jose Rosaly placed third in the shot put (127-0). Alex Shodai came in fourth in the 1,600 (4:33.22). Illich Andino was tied for sixth in the pole vault (11-0).

In the girls' meet, Marie Johnson finished tied for fourth in the high jump (4-10). Akua Williams was sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:10.01).
