High schoolers tale
on Bodle's Opera House
JULY 2008—On Sunday, July 27, Bodle's Opera House in Chester, hosted a Kid's Night of acoustic performances. Three Middletown High School students, Andrea Stopa, Meghan Gillen, and Norma Martine, performed. In addition, Norma Martine emceed the event. The evening was structured off of the same format that is followed for professional entertainers that perform regularly at Bodle's. Each of the performers were able to talk about the inspirations for their original compositions or covers of tunes. Audience members were treated to the option of a full-course meal and show, or could opt to view the show only. Alumni takes to Broadway in "Wicked" JULY 2008—Aaron Tveit, a 2001 graduate of Middletown High School, joined the Broadway cast of "Wicked" on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Mr. Tveit was a standout in the Enlarged City School District of Middletown's Music Department, especially at MHS. While a student, he portrayed the male leads in each of the MHS. Spring Musical productions from 1998 through 2001, which included "Little Shop of Horrors," "Damn Yankees," "West Side Story," and "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He was an ensemble member in Chamber Singers, Men's Chorus, and Pipers. He was also selected several times over to the New York State School Music Association's Zone 9 Area All-State and Orange County Music Educators' Association's All-County choirs. HTveit was also tapped by NYSSMA and MENC during the 2000-2001 academic school year for All-State and All-Eastern choral honors. Fine Arts calendar
