The New York State
Education Department (SED) requires districts that
follow a Contract for Excellence (C4E) provide the
public with information. In an effort to keep our
community informed about C4E, Middletown has developed
this Web site.
SED requires Middletown to follow specific public
requirements on C4E, all are listed below. In addition,
links to some general information about C4E, along with
our C4E for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years have
been provided. |

Each
school district C4E shall be developed
collaboratively with teachers, administrators,
distinguished educators, and parents and persons in
parental relation. |

School
district gives reasonable notice of proposed C4E
plan by posting the plan on school district Web
site, in schools and school district offices, local
publications, district mailings and distributions. |

Translations must be available in languages other
than English that are most commonly spoken in the
school district. |

The
public comment period is 30 days. |

State
the date on which the district gave public notice of
time and place of the public procedures for
participating in the hearing via the news media and
through conspicuous postings. |

The
district must hold a public hearing during the 30
day public comment period. |

The
school district must make available and post on it's
Web site an assessment
of the public comments including responses to each
substantive comment and the transcript of all
comments presented at the public gearings. Late date
for this is August 14, 2008. |
