A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, New York was held Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the
Board of Education Office, 223 Wisner Avenue, Board President Nicholas Mauro, presiding.
Present: Mr. Geiger, Mrs. Isseks, Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Martinez, Mr. Paul, Ms. Perkins, Mr. Perrino, Ms. Tobiassen - 9.

Dr. Mauro called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. Mrs. Knapp made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Isseks, to have an executive session to discuss
matters leading to the employment history of specific personnel. Motion was unanimously approved.
Public session resumed at 7:35 p.m.
Mrs. Martinez led the pledge to the flag.
Mr. Paul made a motion, seconded by Ms. Perkins, amend the agenda as follows: Remove Item No. III) Procedural Resolutions.

Ms. Perkins made a motion, seconded by Mr. Paul, to reinstate Procedural Resolutions on the agenda and place after Roundtable.

any changes made to the policy be done in bold print and copies be given to the Board in advance of the meeting.

OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THE BOARD
Edward Godwin – Supplied handout to the Board and spoke about the Board’s conduct, commended Dr. Eastwood on his accomplishments
for the District.
Art Livesey – Reveiwed the Realtor meeting that was held on 8/27, regarding why people should buy homes in the Middletown School District.
The program was taped and will be on Channel 20.
Judy Long – Aspect Foundation – Introduced the not-for-profit organization that provides foreign exchange programs for students around the world.
Mr. James Drohan, Esq. addressed the topic of Methods of Policy Formation and Review and discussed estimated costs involved to conduct a
review of the policy manual.
Mrs. Knapp made a motion, seconded by Mr. Perrino, to rescind on conducting a comprehensive policy review.

Dr. Mauro advised that revised policies will first receive input from the Board, then will go to the attorney for review, and then back to the Board
for review. New policies will go to the attorney first and then to the Board for review.
Mr. Drohan continued with a discussion on Hiring and Tenure, and forming a new committee.
Mrs. Knapp made a motion, seconded by Mr. Perrino to disband a Hiring/Tenure Committee.
