A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, New York was held Thursday, August 9, 2007, at the Board of Education Office, 223 Wisner Avenue, Board President Rose Tobiassen, presiding.
Present: Mr. Estrada, Mr. Geiger (stepped out 8:55 p.m. – 8:57 p.m.),
Mrs. Knapp, Mr. Paul (stepped out 9:36 p.m. – 9:37 p.m.),

Ms. Tobiassen called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Mr. Perrino made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada, to have an executive session to discuss the appointment and employment of a particular person.
Public session resumed at 7:40 p.m.
Mr. Geiger led the pledge to the flag.
Ms. Tobiassen called for a motion to approve the July 5, 2007 Re-Organization Meeting Minutes.
Mr. Paul requested to amend the July 5, 2007 Re-Organization minutes to remove the word “unanimously” from the section “Mr. Paul moved to take a vote at this time for the position of Vice-President, seconded by Dr. Mauro. By a show of hands, Ayes: 5 – motion was unanimously approved” and to be amended to: “motion was declared approved.”
Mr. Estrada made a motion, seconded by Mr. Perrino, to amend the minutes of the July 5, 2007 Re-Organization Meeting to reflect Mr. Paul’s comments.
Ayes: Mr. Estrada, Mr. Geiger, Mr. Paul, Mr. Perrino, Ms. Tobiassen, Mr. Crescenzo – 6. Noes: Mrs. Knapp, Ms. Perkins – 2. Motion was declared approved.
Ms. Tobiassen called for a motion to approve the July 5, 2007 Regular Meeting Minutes.
Ms. Perkins requested that the minutes be amended to read “July 5, 2007” in the opening paragraph.
Mr. Paul requested to amend the minutes on the third page, under the vote to table Personnel Memorandum #5, to remove the word “unanimously” and be amended to: “motion was declared approved.”
Mr. Paul made a motion, seconded by Mr. Geiger, to approve the July 5, 2007 Regular Meeting Minutes to include the amendments as discussed by Ms. Perkins and Mr. Paul.

A discussion pursued in reviewing the committees on the list. Mr. Crescenzo suggested that the Board continues the conversation pertaining to School Board Assignments at the Board Retreat.
Mr. Paul withdrew his motion to approve School Board Assignments. Mr. Perrino seconded the motion to withdraw.
Ms. Perkins made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada to table the School Board Assignments to discuss at the Board Retreat.

Mr. Crescenzo made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Knapp, to approve revisions to the 2007-2008 school calendar, to include change in secondary parent teacher conferences and ½ days for elementary students (6/25 and 6/26/08).

Mr. Crescenzo made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Knapp, to amend the agenda to add and approve Personnel Memorandum #11 as follows:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education ratifies the terms of a settlement agreement involving a district employee.

At 9:46 p.m., Mr. Estrada made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Knapp, to have an executive session for the discussion of matters leading to the discipline of a particular person.
