A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, New York was held Thursday, August 31, 2006, at the Board of Education Office, 223 Wisner Avenue, Board President Vincent Crescenzo, presiding.
Present: Mrs. Botti, Mr. Geiger, Ms. Perkins, Mr. Perrino, Mr. Crescenzo – 5.
Absent: Mr. Estrada (arrived at 6:09 p.m.), Mrs. Knapp (arrived at 6:12 p.m.), Mr. Paul (arrived at 6:20 p.m), Mrs. Tobiassen - 4.

Mr. Crescenzo called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Mr. Crescenzo led the pledge to the flag. He asked for a moment of silence to remember Eileen Rave, a full-time Teaching Assistant at Mechanicstown Elementary School.
Mr. Perrino made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Botti, to approve Personnel Memorandum #21.
Ayes: Mrs. Botti, Mr. Estrada, Mr. Geiger, Ms. Perkins, Mr. Perrino, Mr. Crescenzo – 6. Noes: None. Motion was unanimously moved.
Ellen Kaplan acknowledged the District’s recent retirees.
Selena Fischer and Mr. Perrino spoke of the passing of Eileen Rave and acknowledged her selfless dedication in her position with the Middletown School District.
Mrs. Botti made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada, to approve Personnel Memorandum #22.

Elizabeth McKean explained the IP Video Surveillance System Bid.
Mr. Geiger requested that there be signs posted on the School District’s campuses to notify the students that there are video surveillance cameras in use. Mrs. McKean advised that proper notification will be posted so that the public is aware of the cameras. Mr. Geiger stated that the District will benefit financially from the installation of the surveillance cameras. Mrs. McKean mentioned that Assemblywoman Gunther is anticipated to come to the District to view the purchase of the cameras that the grant has allowed the District to purchase.
Mr. Estrada advised the public that any work done on the video surveillance system will be done after the students are dismissed.
Mrs. McKean talked about the anticipated dates of when the video surveillance system will be working.
Mr. Perrino questioned if the company that was selected to install the video surveillance system will provide training and back-up for service on the system. Mrs. McKean said that the District was specific in receiving training and on-going maintenance in the video surveillance system bid.
At 6:35 p.m., Mr. Estrada made a motion, seconded by Mr. Paul, to go into executive session for the discussion regarding proposed, pending or current litigation.
Public session resumed at 6:40 p.m. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at this time.
