A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, New York was held Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Board of Education Office, 223 Wisner Avenue, Board President Vincent Crescenzo, presiding.

Mr. Crescenzo called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Mr. Paul made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Botti, to have an executive session to discuss matters regarding proposed, pending or current litigation. Motion was unanimously approved.

Mr. Crescenzo led the pledge to the flag.
Mr. Paul made a motion, seconded by Mr. Perrino, to approve the minutes of January 4, 2007.

- Nancy Healey – addressed concerns about the district’s budgetary allocations and positions within the district (comments are part of Public Hearing for 2007-2008 Budget).
- Courtney Smout – discussed murals at the High School.
- A visitor expressed her concerns regarding funding for social worker positions (visitor could not be identified by sign-in sheet)(comments are part of Public Hearing for 2007-2008 Budget).
- A student discussed her views regarding the High School’s canoe trip and the High School’s library and murals.
- Fred Isseks – discussed his concern for communication within the district.

A policy entitled “Submission of Questions and Propositions at Annual Elections and Special District Meetings” was presented for a first reading. In accordance with Board policy, this policy will be presented for a second reading and for Board adoption at the June 7, 2007 meeting.
Mr. Estrada made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Knapp, to approve Special Services Memorandum #16.

Mrs. Botti made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Knapp, to approve the 2006-2007 Calendar Adjustment (May 24, 2007 – Snow Day Give-Back). Dr. Eastwood explained that all of the district’s snowdays were not used, therefore; there will be no school on Thursday, May 24, 2007.
