A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, New York was held Thursday, February 8, 2007, at the Board of Education Office, 223 Wisner Avenue, Board President Vincent Crescenzo, presiding.

Mr. Crescenzo called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Tobiassen made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada, to have an executive session to discuss matters leading to the appointment or employment of specific personnel.
Public session resumed at 8:15 p.m.
Mr. Crescenzo led the pledge to the flag.
Mr. Perrino made a motion, seconded by Mr. Paul, to amend the agenda to eliminate names #10 and 13 from Non-Instructional Personnel Memorandum #43.

Ms. Tobiassen made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada, to approve the Revised Resolution to Correct November 2, 2006 Language – Abolish 18 Part-Time Monitor Positions and Create 18 Part-Time School Security Aide Positions (see attached resolution).

Mr. Paul made a motion to table Resolution – Authorization to Commence Proceedings for Collection until February 22, 2007 meeting. Motion was not seconded. No action taken.
Ms. Perkins made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada to approve Resolution – Authorization to Commence Proceedings for Collection:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education authorizes the school’s attorneys to commence proceedings against Bernard Cohen to recover an overpayment of salary.

Ms. Tobiassen made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Botti to amend the agenda to include the approval of resolution to uphold the decision regarding the Superintendent’s hearing concerning Student CS. Hearing was held on December 22, 2006.

Ms. Tobiassen made a motion, seconded by Mr. Estrada, to approve the resolution to uphold the decision regarding the Superintendent’s hearing concerning Student CS. Hearing was held on December 22, 2006.

Resolution to correct November 2, 2006 language to read:
Be it resolved that the Board of Education hereby abolishes 18 part-time Monitor positions (2 at Middletown High School, 7 at Monhagen Middle School, 5 at Twin
Towers Middle School, and 1 at each elementary school) effective December 31, 2006 and, in their place, creates 18 part-time provisional 10 month School Security Aide positions effective January 1, 2007 at a base salary of $12.50 per hour, and
Be it further resolved that each part-time Secondary monitor position that becomes vacant as of November 3, 2006 shall be abolished and replaced with a part-time School Security Aide in its place.
Note: The change was a delineation of secondary monitors, not all monitors.
