All about the Middletown community
Middletown City School District is located in Orange County, NY, about 65 miles northeast of New York City. Middletown is part of the Hudson Valley region, near the Wallkill River, and our district covers all of the city of Middletown as well as portions
of the towns of Wallkill, Wawayanda, and Goshen.

Middletown is home to the historic Paramount Theatre, Thrall Library as well as Orange County Community College, and the beautiful Webb Horton House. In addition, Horton Memorial Hospital and the Middletown Psychiatric Center are found here, along with the Times Herald Record—an award winning newspaper. Skiing, golf, tennis, swimming, hiking, and other recreational activities, are all nearby as is the Galleria at Crystal Run—the largest mall in the area. Middletown is also home to the Orange County Fair each summer.

Orange County contains a network of major highways. Noteworthy is the triangle formed by New York Route 17, the Thruway, and Interstate 84. These greatly facilitate travel in all directions. There are rail and bus commuter services to the metropolitan area and passenger services via major airlines from Stewart International Airport, located in Newburgh, NY, have been serving our region for more than a decade.

All about Middletown City School District
Our district is comprised of over 6,700 students, 545 teachers, 35 administrators, and nearly 560 support staff members. Middletown’s student population is educated in two primary schools (grades K-1), two intermediate schools (grades 2-5), two middle schools (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12).

District administrative services are led by our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kenneth Eastwood, who provides professional and educational leadership to our school district. In addition, our central office administration includes: a business administrator, directors of elementary and secondary education, a coordinator of literacy, a director of pupil personnel services, a director of personnel services, a director of technology, a director of food and nutrition services, and a superintendent of buildings and grounds.

School building administration includes: one principal and one to two assistant principals for grades K-8 and one executive principal and five house principals at the high school. The district supports an instructional staff of certified teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff as well.

Our district’s goal is to prepare students for life. To do so, Middletown offers students a variety of programs that make us unique. Please take the time to search our Web site to learn more about our academics, athletics, and fine arts programs as well as important district contacts and information about all of our schools!
